Generally yes. There are no broad restrictions for foreign buyers, with a few exceptions such as certain areas of strategic or military interest. You will need a Spanish foreigner ID number (NIE) to complete the purchase.
These usually include taxes (transfer tax on resale properties, or VAT and stamp duty on new builds), notary and land registry fees, and legal fees. The exact amounts depend on the property and the region, so we give you an estimate upfront.
A legal due diligence should check who owns the property, whether it has mortgages or debts, the urban planning status, any unpaid community or local charges and the required certificates. It protects you from costly surprises after the purchase.
Owners pay local property tax, and non-residents may also owe tax on rental income or on the benefit of owning the property. Selling can trigger capital gains tax and local taxes. If the seller is not a Spanish resident, the buyer may need to retain part of the price. We explain how it applies to your case.
